Kindergarten +

The K+ program at Zion seeks children who are enrolled in the public school. Whether your child is in AM or PM kindergarten, K+ will give your child more time to explore and develop the skills needed to succeed in first grade.

Kindergarten skills are reinforced through all areas of the curriculum. The program offers hands-on experiences with emphasis on reading, phonics, writing, math and science. Reggio-inspired projects, Music Together Big Kids, art, computers and faith-based activities also enrich the learning experience.

With a stimulating and diverse curriculum, we aim to nurture a love of learning in every child and to develop a focused fun approach to work, enabling children to realize their potential.

Goals of the program include:

  • Individualized instruction, especially in reading and math
Individual and small group instruction will allow each child to begin at his/her current level and progress at his/her own pace.
  • Development of skills needed for the first grade
The K+ program stresses the development of reading, writing, and math skills. Whether your child is just learning his/her letter sounds and numbers, or beginning to read and do simple addition, our goal is to build upon and further each student’s skill levels.
  • Teaching academic material in a fun, exciting way
The program will use games and engaging enrichment activities to supplement each student’s current kindergarten experience.
